Vincent "Jimmy" Amico Obituary

Vincent “Jimmy” Amico, 76, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, the former Ann DeFrancesco. The couple had been married for 53 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Vincent and Grace Mecca Amico. Vince was a 1965 graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of Ss. Anthony and Rocco Parish. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the State of Pennsylvania in the Department of Abandoned Mine Reclamation. After retiring, Vince spent his time reading history and mystery books, antiquing with Ann and refinishing the furniture that they purchased.

Vince was a loving and supportive husband, father, uncle and friend. He was a very strong-willed man who mellowed tremendously when he became a grandfather. The light of Vince’s life was his three granddaughters, Grace, Olivia and Cecelia. The girls affectionately referred to him as Papa, a title that he treasured. Vince enjoyed bowling and was a member of several local leagues. He was an avid NY Giants and Yankees fan and attended many games with his sons and granddaughters.

Also surviving are sons, Vince Amico and wife Cecelia, and Jason Amico. Granddaughters, Grace, Olivia and Cecelia Amico, all of Dunmore. Sisters, Jean Oleary, Hampden Twp., Mary Ann Hartshorn, Dunmore, Patricia Dee, Dunmore, Donna Delbridge and husband James, Enola, and Cathy Pinto and husband Joseph, Dunmore; brother-in-law, Guy DeFrancesco and wife Elaine, Blakely. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially Laurie, Amy and Jennifer for all their help and compassion, and the neighbors on Marjorie Drive who helped immensely in times of need. Vince was blessed to have extraordinary in-home care from Zanetra, Stephanie and Jean Leonard.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore.
