Joseph S. Arnone, 89, of Scranton, died Saturday at home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the former Ann T. Carlucci, on June 19, 2021.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late James and Michelina Occulto Arnone, he attended Dunmore public schools, and was also a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish on Prospect Avenue in South Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was a chef and production manager at Moses Taylor Hospital for over 35 years in their Food Service Department. Additionally, he was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served during the Korean War.
Joseph enjoyed traveling and cruises, and enjoyed being at the gym with his friends at ProFitness. He also adored his entire family with all of his heart, and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Joseph J. Arnone and wife, Dina; grandchildren, Kylie and Justin Arnone; and his brothers Charles (Chuck) and Vince (Butch) Arnone; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Atty. Christopher Philip Arnone; and brothers Louis (Dutchie) Arnone, Sam Arnone, and infant brother Joseph.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. to be celebrated at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect St., South Scranton. Entombment to follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
Friends may pay their respects at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass.
